Invest in the Revolution!
As an Echo supporter, you are part of a special group within the St. Louis area — one that chooses to nurture the performing arts as a vital part of our community. You recognize the inherent value of theatre as a means to learn about ourselves, engage in civic dialogue, contemplate the present, and envision a better future.
Your commitment to our success — as both a theatre-goer and financial supporter — is essential. As a community-supported non-profit theatre, Echo relies on donations from individuals to sustain the quality of its artistic work and the effectiveness of its education and community programs. Ticket purchases cover just half of what is needed to meet Echo’s annual operating budget.
As Echo works to become a valuable cultural resource by creating a vital forum for the discussion of the stories that shape our world, we will continue to depend on the generosity of people like you. We hope you’ll continue to share Echo’s vision that theatre is a community partnership and an invaluable resource for adults and youth alike. Echo Theatre Company is a recognized 501(c)3 tax-exempt nonprofit corporation, and all donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.

HOW DOES ECHO SERVE THE ST. LOUIS COMMUNITY?
Outreach to Children’s Hospitals Echo is the only theatre company in St. Louis that provides outreach to area hospitals that specialize in the care of children. Since 2005, our Imagination over Limitations program has brought free plays and workshops to hundreds of hospitalized youth and their families. Actors lead patients through introductory drama workshops and interactive performances of original plays based on familiar stories – adapting the special needs of the children to the performance experience. Children who participate experience the thrill of witnessing a story come to life as audience members and as actors.
The Next Generation Programs This year, our commitment to building and nurturing theatre for new audiences and artists has become one of our top priorities. We are creating partnerships with high schools and colleges to implement theatre training and education. We are developing an advisory committee composed of young adults and a Living History performance series for teenagers. In addition, we are offering students 2/$20 tickets to all of our shows, and utilizing the latest technologies and communications to reach this demographic.
Play Reading Series Each month, Echo provides the St. Louis community with free play readings by contemporary artists from around the globe. We give our audiences and our artists the opportunity to encounter bold and challenging new works that would rarely be produced or even heard of in the area. Additionally, everyone benefits from the plays being brought to life by some of the city’s most accomplished professional actors.
Sharing Stories from Different Perspectives Echo believes that dramatic storytelling – like life – needs to be vital, daring and evocative. Our theatre is where you can see and hear stories that have not been censored or commercialized to fit corporate tastes. Since 1998, we have been praised for our truthful and exciting acting, relevant choices of material and bold, imaginative productions. The company has attracted talented actors and designers from St. Louis and other parts of the country, while continuing to nurture a core ensemble, many of whom have worked together for over ten years.
Vision Echo believes that, in the best of circumstances, a sharing occurs between the actors and the audience that leads to a form of awareness for all participants. As an ensemble, we continually seek to strengthen this sharing in hopes that the relationship created in the theatre will resonate from the audience to the community. This resonation correlates directly to the “echo” for which we are named.
